Los Ingravidos

Shifting between two distinctive voices, this novel is alternately narrated by a modern-day woman living in Mexico and by poet Gilberto Owen while on the verge of death. While the woman recalls her youthful years as an editor in New York City, haunted by Owen’s ghost as she rode the subway, Owen recalls his own youth during the Harlem Renaissance of the late 1920s, when he belonged to literary circles along with writers such as Louis Zukofsky and Federico García Lorca. Readers will be enthralled by these parallel subterranean journeys as both narrators retell and explore their pasts as part of New York’s literary world.
