The protagonists in these short stories–young at the outset–become acquainted with life and its disappointments through the adventures and experiences narrated in the book’s pages. They aspire to become doctors and lawyers, but also rock musicians, and they listen to songs that become the soundtracks first to love and then to their heartbreak. These beautiful and melancholy interconnected stories are about all the subtle disillusionments–and surprises–that accompany the end of youth and the awareness of that end. Additionally, these tales discuss memory, how people live with the past, and how it contaminates thoughts and feelings with the ghosts and the places left behind that can never again be revisited.
